Apparently, the frustration of the spoiled child who cannot assert himself in society resulted in the "alienation" that is at the heart of Marx's theory and which concept was inherited from Rousseau.My own thoughts about Rousseau are here, here, here, here, and here.
It is undoubtedly a fear of personal responsibility, guided by the doctrine of modern secularism, that has helped build the modern daycare regime that caters to adults as well as their unfortunate offspring.
