"That is what fools have written, what imbeciles command, what rogues teach, and young children are made to learn by heart."This nonsensical generalization bears scant resemblance to the truth. (It does not, for instance, credit the civilizing influence of the Bible, as it is conveyed through Judaism and Christianity.) Voltaire's statement is nothing more than propaganda for anti-religionism.
It is no wonder that so many young minds were irretrievably corrupted by their exposure to the "heroes" of collegiate "open-mindedness." I was corrupted for a while, but I began to see the world as it is, not as Voltaire and his ilk would have it seem.
